How ironic that in the last week Bob Woodward's "State of Denial" added more relevations and details to the incompetance and malfeasance of the Bush Administration and ABC News lead in exposing the scandal involving Rep. Foley's disgusting advances towards young pages. Woodward's previous books have been fluff pieces flattering the administration, and his involvement in the Valerie Plame leak revealed the old Metro beat reporter who broke the Watergate scandal as someone who'd been co-opted by the Beltway insider establishment. The basic themes of his book are nothing new, just suddenly given more credibility coming from him. And he has added some juicy facts that give more evidence of the duplicitous actions of Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and the total absence of sense, responsibility or conviction of Bush. ABC News, meanwhile, seems determined to make up for the disastrous "Path to 9/11" fiasco by taking the lead in exposing (sic) Congressman Foley's predatorial e-mails and IMs to House pages. That they have done so, and Brian Ross is to be commended, is no doubt out of abhorrance over the "Paths" controversy in which ABC News had no part. I suspect Disney did not dare to attempt to quash their revelations in light of their bad judgement in the docu-drama case. This time someone must have seen that ABC taking the lead in protecting minors might just do a bit of good in repairing the horrible damage done to the Disney name during the run-up to "Path to 9/11." The U.S. voters have a chance to start changing all this in 5 weeks. It's time to clean house, and then bring the crooks to justice. I look forward to our version of the Nuremburg Trials for war crimes...I suggest holding the proceedings in New Orleans. |
