In spite of the usual number of crises, glitches and snafus, 2007 has been a great year for us here at Rick's Cafe in Casablanca. From today until the end of the year I'll share our "TOP TEN" list in two categories: People & Events and Additions & Improvements at Rick's. NUMBER 10 - PEOPLE & EVENTS - PIANO CONCERTO CIPRIANE & JOHANNA 24,25 DECEMBER This is an event that hasn't happened yet but we're already confident it's worthy of our Top Ten list. For Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day lunch we'll have Cipriane at the piano and Johanna singing operatic arias, blues standards, Italian, Russian and other international pieces. These talented musicans from Romania have performed at our Sunday night Jam Sessions to much acclaim. NUMBER 10 - ADDITIONS & IMPROVEMENTS AT RICK'S - DECO UPGRADE, BLUE ROOM This beautiful dining room is dominated by a zellige tile fireplace and blue tadelakt. We added an oak panel along the walls at chair level which immediately made the room seem more cozy. Two more Iranian brass beaded lamps were added, another Syrian inlaid wood screen and a Syrian gaming table which now holds a brass chandelier with candles and a brass vase of roses. The demand for the room increased immediately and now seems a preferred choice for special parties. TUNE IN TOMORROW FOR NUMBER 9! |
